H&H Bagels was set to open Monday

H&H Bagels was scheduled to open its Palm Beach Gardens shop on August 17, according to What Now Miami's August 11 report. The planned menu runs to hand-rolled bagels, breakfast sandwiches, spreads, smoked fish, and coffee. Here is the detail bagel people will argue about: the bagels are proofed and kettle-boiled in New York City water, then baked on site. H&H began on Manhattan's Upper West Side in 1972, so it arrives with a long reputation attached. The opening was not independently confirmed, and dates like this move all the time. J.Crew is coming back to The Gardens Mall
J.Crew is returning to Palm Beach Gardens. The Gardens Mall now lists the retailer as coming soon, according to What Now Miami. The store will sit on the lower level, near Saks Fifth Avenue. No opening date was announced, so there is nothing to put on the calendar yet. The mall at 3101 PGA Boulevard carries more than 160 retailers, and J.Crew will make one more. Returning is the operative word. The brand has been gone from the Gardens, and the mall's coming soon listing is the first public sign that it is on its way back.
The old gym space at PGA National Shops has a taker
Eos Fitness is planning a Palm Beach Gardens location, according to What Now Miami. The facility would occupy the former LA Fitness space at PGA National Shops. No opening date was announced, and the report describes a plan rather than a set date. What it does answer is the question people ask about a big former gym: who takes it next. In this case, another gym. The name on that storefront would change while the use of the space would not. If you have been watching that space since LA Fitness left, this is the first real news about it.
Residents fight a plan to cut hundreds of oaks
Hundreds of oak trees are on a removal list, and neighbors are pushing back. WPTV reports that residents of one Palm Beach Gardens community are fighting the plan. They are not only trying to save their own trees. They are also calling for changes to the city's tree removal codes, which would reach well past their streets. The community is The Isles, where a resident told the station about the environmental impact of removing nearly half of the area's oaks. That is the number driving this. Not a few trees, but close to half of what the neighborhood has.
The city wants your photos, and there is a new category
Entries for the 2026 Resident Photography Contest are open through September 18. There are five categories: iGardens cellphone photography, Beauty Abounds, Digital Manipulation, People & PBG, and a new America 250 category. You have to be a city resident or attend school in Palm Beach Gardens to enter. Photos must be taken inside city limits between September 2025 and September 2026, so a shot from last winter still qualifies. Finalists get unveiled at a City Hall reception on October 19 at 6 p.m. If your camera roll is mostly thunderheads and herons, you are already most of the way there.
The fall GardensLife brochure is out
The Fall 2026 GardensLife brochure is out. It is the city's list of new classes, programs, and seasonal events, and it covers all ages. That means kids' programs, adult classes, and the seasonal events that carry the calendar through the end of the year. The city put it out with a simple invitation to dive in and see what is new. It is the least glamorous item here. It is also the one most likely to answer the question of what there is to do in this city that does not involve a mall or a restaurant.
