Burns Road paving runs overnight for three weeks

One outside lane is closed on southeast-bound Beeline Highway at two separate points. One closure is west of Northlake Boulevard, and the other runs from east of Jog Road to the Florida's Turnpike bridge. FDOT has the daytime closures scheduled through Friday, July 31, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Both are single outside-lane closures on the southeast-bound side rather than full shutdowns, and the schedule covers daytime hours only. The closures were announced July 27.

Palm Beach Gardens Police officers will be at the Mirasol Walk Starbucks, 6231 PGA Boulevard, on Wednesday, July 29, from 8:30 to 11 a.m. for Coffee with a Cop. Each attendee can get one free hot or iced coffee in any size, and any modifications to the drink are charged at the register. The free coffee is good only during the event and only at the Mirasol Walk store, so it cannot be redeemed at another Starbucks location. Details of the event went out July 23.

Veterans and active-duty military personnel can take one complimentary hour of Trackman Bay Play at The Nest Par 3, 9900 Sandhill Crane Drive, on Wednesday, July 29 and Thursday, July 30, from 4 to 7:30 p.m. The offer also includes 50% off golf balls, $5 club rentals for anyone who needs them, and discounted food and beverages available for purchase. A valid military ID, DD214 or veteran-designation license is required. There are no advance reservations, access is first come, first served, and entry is through the Avenir entrance. That routing is in place while the Northlake Boulevard main entrance to both golf clubs is closed for renovations and upgrades.

The Homeless Coalition of Palm Beach County's annual Mayors' Ball returns August 29 at PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, with a Boots & Bourbon theme this year. The program includes live music from country artist Jordan Oaks, line dancing and dinner. Auctions, themed photo opportunities and decorative hat pyrography are also part of the evening. Organizers say proceeds support homelessness programs and services for vulnerable residents across Palm Beach County.

The Northlake Boulevard main entrance to the Sandhill Crane and The Nest Par 3 golf clubs has been closed since June 27 for renovations and upgrades, and everyone heading to either course is being routed through the Avenir entrance instead. The main entrance is expected to reopen in August. That routing also covers the military appreciation hours at The Nest on July 29 and 30, and the city has published a detour map for the closure.

Nominations for the Palm Beach North Chamber of Commerce's 2026 Woman of the Year Award close before noon on Friday, July 31. The award recognizes leadership and commitment to the Palm Beach North region. Nominees are scheduled to be notified August 4, and applications from nominees are due before noon August 31. Nominees are announced September 17, finalists are announced October 5, and the award luncheon follows November 4 at the Pelican Club.

The city's 2026 Resident Photography Contest is open for submissions through September 18. Entrants must be Palm Beach Gardens residents or students attending school in the city, and images must have been taken within city limits between September 2025 and September 2026. Categories are iGardens cellphone photography, Beauty Abounds nature and landscapes, Digital Manipulation, People & PBG candid photography, and a new America 250 category. Finalists are scheduled to be unveiled October 19 at 6 p.m. at City Hall. The contest was announced July 13.
